All of the employees at CLEAN have participated in the American Heart Association’s Metro St. Louis Heart Walk for years, but this year was special.
Along with many other St. Louis area businesses, CLEAN is a part of the Executives with Heart Campaign. This campaign challenges the owners and employees of its member businesses to raise as much money as possible for the American Heart Association through events like the Heart Walk. Most businesses met or exceeded their goals, which ranged from $2,500 to $20,000.
CLEAN, with a goal of $10,000, managed to raise a stunning $13,781 by the end of the campaign! Because of this impressive effort, CLEAN’s Corporate Human Resources Director Brian Reitz won the opportunity to throw out the first pitch at the American Heart Association Night at the Ballpark at Busch Stadium on August 8 when the Cardinals will be finishing a four-game series against the Dodgers. Congratulations, Brian!
By the end of the campaign, the 30 St. Louis businesses participating with Executives with Heart raised over $167,000 for the American Heart Association. The $1.5 million fundraising goal for the Metro St. Louis Heart Walk was met with donations totaling $1,574,357.
There are Heart Walks in more than 300 cities across the United States. Besides raising funds for the American Heart Association, the Heart Walk is aimed at raising awareness for heart disease and the importance of physical activity to heart health. Funds raised at these events go to promoting and funding adult and pediatric heart and stroke research as well as distributing information about heart health, healthy lifestyle choices, and warning signs of heart attack and stroke to the people who need it most. We at CLEAN raise money every year because we have all personally been touched by someone the American Heart Association has helped!
